Dr. Sharma
Puneeta Sharma, MD, Program Director - Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program

Welcome to the Valley Health System – Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program.

Palliative medicine is rooted in one of the most meaningful responsibilities in healthcare: caring for patients and families through serious illness with compassion, dignity, and humanity. At Valley, we are committed to delivering patient- and family-centered care that supports the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of every individual we serve.

Our interdisciplinary team of physicians, advanced practice clinicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, pharmacists, and hospice professionals works collaboratively to provide comprehensive, evidence-based care across inpatient, outpatient, and hospice settings. Together, they have built a culture defined by excellence, trust, teamwork, and deep compassion for patients and one another.

We are proud to extend that culture into our Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program. Fellows will train in a wide range of clinical environments, including our state-of-the-art inpatient facilities, the Valley-Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Center, and community hospice settings where compassionate care is often needed most.
