The academic year is made up of 13 blocks, each 4 weeks in duration.
- Fellows will be assigned to the inpatient consultation service for 9 blocks. Care will be provided over a variety of hospital settings, including in the Emergency Department, ICUs, and general medicine/surgical units.
- Fellows will spend one half-day (4 hours) session per week embedded in the outpatient palliative care service during the above 9 blocks.
- Fellows will serve as part of Valley Hospice's interdisciplinary team under the Hospice Medical Director for a total of 1 block.
- Each fellow will spend 1 block at Family of Caring, Ridgewood, under the Nursing Home Medical Director.
- Fellows are allowed a 1 block-long (4-week) elective in the specialty of their choosing.
- Fellows are entitled to 28 days of vacation, taken in 1 or 2-week blocks. Fellows are also entitled to 4 sick/personal days.
