Community Donations
Generous donations of new and handmade items never fail to bring comfort and smiles to our patients. If you’re an individual or a member of an organization looking to make a difference in your community, consider making Valley part of your community service commitment. Below are some examples of needed items:
Send a Card to Hospital Patients!
Please consider donating a handmade card to be included on our patients’ food trays! These uplifting, encouraging support items are so appreciated by patients and will comfort them throughout their stay. Thank you for supporting our patients!

“Best Medicine” Cart Donations
Scouting troops, students, local organizations and individuals regularly support Valley by donating homemade items to the hospital’s “Best Medicine” cart. Items from the cart, which include cards, bookmarks, crafting items and more, are distributed to patients by our volunteers.
Knitted or Crocheted Item Donations
Handmade items such as afghans, hats for newborns and cancer patients, and fleece lap robes are gratefully accepted and bring much comfort to patients and their families.
The volunteer department also accepts donations of new, acrylic yarn to make comfort items for our patients and their families.

Yarnbabies for Preemies
Donations of crocheted Yarnbabies for The Valley Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit have been shown to comfort babies, help them adjust to their environment, and help them experience better breathing and regular heartbeats.
Unfortunately, we are not accepting donations of Yarnbabies at this time. Please check back frequently for updates. Thank you!
Patient Donation Wish Lists
We welcome donations of new, unused items for our pediatric and senior patients. Books, games, playing cards, crayons and puzzles are just some of the items on their wish lists.

Valley’s Veteran Program
At Valley, we are proud to honor and care for those who have served our country. Our Veteran Program recognizes patients who are veterans and offers them the opportunity to connect with a friendly visitor who provides companionship, conversation, and appreciation for their service.
Through this program, Valley is committed to ensuring that our veteran patients feel seen, valued, and supported — not only for their health needs, but for their lasting contributions to our community and our nation.
For community groups looking to donate to this program, we would love to accept "Thank You For Your Service" Veteran Appreciation cards and Handmade Flags. You may use this template as a guide (feel free to make or find your own), and ask your group to color and glue it to a popsicle stick.
If you are a veteran and would like to learn more about this program, please contact [email protected].
Donations for Staff
Please consider donating a handmade card(s) for our staff as they continue to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic. These meaningful items provide our staff with encouragement and inspiration, fostering their resilience and offering strength in these challenging times.
Cards can be mailed to:
