OB/GYN Services Expand at Valley Medical Group – Park Ridge with Addition of New Physician

January 13, 2014 -- Board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist Myrandele Damian-Coleman, M.D., has joined Valley Medical Group – Park Ridge, thus expanding women’s health care service at the group’s beautiful new medical office building at 70 Park Avenue.

Valley Medical Group (VMG) is a multispecialty group practice comprising doctors and advanced practice professionals representing more than 30 medical and surgical specialties. VMG – which joins The Valley Hospital and Valley Home Care as the three entities that form Valley Health System – has office locations throughout the region.  The new office of VMG – Park Ridge also houses specialists in cardiology, dermatology, gerontology, neurology, and pediatric psychiatry.

In the OB/GYN division of VMG – Park Ridge, Dr. Damian-Coleman joins OB/GYN Kimberly L. Fallon, M.D.; certified physician assistant Rachel Russ, P.A.; advanced practice nurse Lisa Rowe, N.P.; and Carolyn DuBois, R.N., in providing state-of-the-art, compassionate OB/GYN care for women of all ages.

Dr. Damian-Coleman, a resident of Teaneck, NJ, received her medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville in 2005 and completed her OB/GYN residency at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in New York City in 2009. Prior to entering medical school, she was a medical assistant and certified HIV and pregnancy counselor for AmeriCorps for two years, providing health care and coordinated outreach programs for the underserved in San Francisco.

Dr. Damian-Coleman and the OB/GYN team at VMG – Park Ridge provide the full range of OB/GYN services, including prenatal and childbirth care, well- woman gynecologic services, and minimally invasive laparoscopic, hysteroscopic, and robotic procedures, including hysterectomy, myomectomy, and Essure sterilization.  Office services include first-trimester sonograms and fetal monitoring.  If patients require high-risk obstetrical care, Dr. Damian-Coleman and her team co-manage these patients’ pregnancies with Valley’s maternal-fetal medicine specialists.

“I am very happy and excited to be a part of such a great team,” says Dr. Damian-Coleman.  “I am also supportive of the holistic birth program at The Valley Hospital and find that many patients choose Valley because of this option.”
“Practicing obstetrics and gynecology gives me the honor of being a part of amazing times in my patients’ lives through their pregnancies and a lifetime of gynecological care,” she adds.

VMG offers close physician collaboration within and across medical specialties and seamless integration with all the resources Valley Health System has to offer. VMG brings together doctors who practice at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, Valley’s Blumenthal Cancer Center in Paramus, seven urgent and primary care centers, and community-based practices located throughout the region.  Medical specialties represented include cardiology, hospital-based pediatrics, dermatology, surgery, family practice, internal medicine, OB/GYN, and oncology.

Valley’s quality distinctions include four consecutive “A” ratings for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group; excellence awards from HealthGrades for women’s health care and gynecologic surgery; three consecutive Magnet designations for nursing excellence; and the 2013 Women’s Choice Award for being voted one of America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Experience by women.

Valley’s women’s health services include the Center for Childbirth, which includes a holistic birth program; the Center for Women, Children, and Family Education; the Women’s and Children’s Resource Center; the Fertility Center; maternal-fetal medicine; reproductive genetic counseling; and gynecologic oncology services.
