The First Visit

pulmonaryDuring your child’s first visit, Dr. Kanengiser and his team will spend about one hour taking a detailed medical history, discussing all previous treatments and respiratory events.

What to Bring

Please bring any previous x-rays, and all relevant testing results, as well as a list of previous medications.

What To Expect

Dr. Kanengiser may recommend a number of diagnostic tests, many of which can be performed in his office in the Kireker Center for Child Development, at The Valley Hospital, or at other locations. Your child’s evaluation might include:

  • age-appropriate pulmonary function testing, including spirometry or impulse oscillometry
  • exercise testing
  • methacholine provocation testing
  • X-rays
  • allergy tests
  • sweat tests
  • other laboratory tests

Dr. Kanengiser may also recommend a consultation with a pediatric allergist or other specialist depending on your child’s symptoms or medical history.
