Elizabeth Marada had struggled to lose weight on her own. Her primary care physician suggested she get tested for sleep apnea and see a bariatrician, or weight loss doctor. After being tested for sleep apnea, she turned to Valley LifeStart: The Valley Center for Weight and Wellness™ to discuss weight loss options.
Valley LifeStart works with patients to evaluate the many traditional and evolving treatments for weight loss and customize treatments based on the patient’s medical history, family history, lifestyles, and personal preference. Valley LifeStart provides patients with the tools to lose weight successfully, maintain success, and live healthier, fuller lives.
There, she met with Nanceyanne Tallis, APN, who suggested moving forward with medical weight management. Elizabeth was prescribed the GLP-1 medication Zepbound.
“Due to my sleep apnea diagnosis, I was able to get on Zepbound,” said the 39-year-old. “I have never had a clinician advocate for me like Nanceyanne did to get me on this medication. Everyone in the office really cares about you and your well-being.”
Elizabeth started Zepbound in November 2025 and has since lost 80 pounds. She is now on maintenance.
“I have had an amazing experience. It helped me eat better and steer toward better food options. I have stopped drinking and no longer have cravings,” said the Dumont native. “I am also more active now. I used to lack confidence to go to the gym, but I feel very confident now.”
“If anyone is considering this option for weight loss, it is important to remember that you cannot just sit around and expect results,” Elizabeth said. “You need to put in the work, be active, pay attention to your diet, listen to your body when you feel full, and keep up with it.”
“I am so glad Valley was able to advocate for me to be on this medication and to help me succeed on this journey.”
