The Center for Digestive Health provides comprehensive prevention, diagnostic, evaluation, treatment, management and consultation services for patients with all types of liver diseases, including:
- Hepatitis A, B, and C
- Cirrhosis
- Primary biliary cirrhosis
- Sclerosing cholangitis
- Complications of portal hypertension
- Alcoholic liver disease
- Cancer of the liver and bile duct
Diagnostic tests ordered through the Center for Digestive Health include lab tests, CT scans, ultrasounds, MRIs and liver biopsies. Treatment may include medications, including pegylated interferon or novel medications currently in clinical trials for hepatitis or various surgical procedures.
Valley also offers a non-invasive imaging test called FibroScan, which can accurately detect the amount of fibrosis or scarring in the liver and minimize the need for a liver biopsy. This test uses ultrasound technology to measure liver stiffness and fatty changes in the liver. Your Valley gastroenterologist will determine if this test is right for you.
