The Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit at Valley is a highly specialized critical care inpatient unit for adults who have experienced a stroke or other neurological illness, or those who have just undergone neurosurgery, a neurointerventional procedure, or treatment with a clot-busting medication such as tPA (tissue plasminogen activator). Patients with unstable vital signs or serious chronic illnesses may also be brought to the Neuro ICU for close observation and monitoring of their neurological functions.

Our Neuro Intensive Care Unit and Technology

The Neuro ICU contains private patient rooms that are wired for continuous neurological and cardiac monitoring. All our rooms offer easy viewing access by our physicians and nurses at all times.

Our portable CT scanner makes it easy and safe to image patients right in their rooms, without having to move them for their diagnostic tests. In addition, the hospital’s Rapid Response Team can be called at any time to quickly address any urgent changes in a patient’s condition.

Neuro ICU Visitor Information

Rest and quiet time are important for each patient’s recovery. We offer flexible visiting hours to encourage family and friends to participate in the care of loved ones in the Neuro ICU. Please speak to a nurse to arrange appropriate times.
