The Valley Hospital Foundation will host the fifth annual Step Up for Valley virtual fitness challenge from September 26 to October 3. The weeklong fundraiser encourages participants to get active, have fun, and support programs and services offered through Valley Health System. This year’s event benefits cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training to the community, ensuring that more people have the skills necessary to respond in an emergency situation.
“Step Up for Valley is a way for our community to come together and show their support for Valley Health System and the high-quality care that is so important to the people in our region,” said Jeff Seidler, The Valley Hospital Foundation Trustee and Step Up for Valley founder. “Through this weeklong challenge, we raise awareness and support, promote the benefits of exercise and an active lifestyle, and inspire some healthy competition – all for a great cause.”
This year’s event is especially close to the heart for Seidler, who suffered a heart attack in 2021 at the age of 37 and was cared for at The Valley Hospital. Jeff notes that his wife’s ability to perform CPR until first responders arrived contributed to his positive outcome and helped to save his life.
“I’m incredibly grateful to Valley, and to all the people who were integral in saving my life,” said Seidler. “I’m thankful to be alive. Every day now is the best day of my life.”
Participants can join the challenge individually or form a team and recruit friends and family. Registration is $25 per individual, and sponsorship opportunities are available.
Participants will create their own fundraising pages, track their fundraising, record their steps, and share these accomplishments with their family and friends. Participants will also be rewarded for their fundraising achievements.
Participants have the opportunity to win one of 10 grand prizes. This year’s prizes include a Hypershell X Pro S Hiking Exoskeleton, a Center 1 Home Gym Functional Trainer, sports watches, biometric scales, Oura rings, Apple watches, and more.
All are encouraged to do their best and have fun! To learn more and to register, please visit ValleyHospitalFoundation.org/StepUp.
