Valley Health System, in partnership with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, is proud to announce the establishment of Graduate Medical Education (GME) fellowship programs to educate and train the next generation of physicians in the specialties of hematology and oncology, cardiovascular disease, and hospice and palliative medicine.
“Valley is proud to be continuing our partnership with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, one of the largest graduate medical education programs in the United States, to expand our medical education program offerings in northern New Jersey with the addition of fellowships,” said Robert Brenner, MD, MMM, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer of Valley Health System. “Our goal is to ensure that the next generation of physicians is well trained to serve the community.”
All three fellowships have been approved and accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
Eleonora Teplinsky, MD, Head of Breast and Gynecologic Medical Oncology for Valley-Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Care, will serve as Director of the Hematology and Oncology Fellowship Program. Kevin Wood, MD, will serve as associate director. Applications for the program will be accepted in July 2026, with the matriculation of the first class of two fellows in July 2027.
Himanshu Gupta, MD, Director of Cardiac Imaging for Valley Medical Group, will serve as Director of the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program. Stephanie Kochav, MD, will serve as associate director. Applications for the program will be accepted in July 2026, with the matriculation of the first class of four fellows in July 2027.
Puneeta Sharma, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Valley Medical Group, will serve as Director of the Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program. Ayelet Spitzer, DO, will serve as associate director. Applications for the program will be accepted in July 2026, with matriculation of the first class of two fellows in July 2027.
