The Valley Center for Digestive Health Offers Comprehensive Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program

April 27, 2026

The Valley Center for Digestive Health is proud to offer a comprehensive Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Program to help patients diagnosed with IBD achieve lasting remission and improved quality of life.

IBD refers to two chronic, autoimmune disorders that result from an abnormal immune system response. These include Crohn’s disease, which can affect any part of the gastrointestinal tract, and ulcerative colitis, which affects the colon (large intestine). IBD is a systemic condition, and can also affect the joints, skin, eyes, and liver.

“Inflammatory bowel disease can negatively impact patients’ lives, which is why there is a need for proper medical therapy,” said Michael Herman, MD, Director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program at The Valley Center for Digestive Health. “It is a lifelong condition that requires proactive management and proper medical therapy. It is important to be a part of a program like this to be able to provide the necessary resources for patients to be adequately treated.”

This program is for patients who already have a diagnosis of IBD and are looking for comprehensive IBD medical care. The program focuses on preventing flares and complications, routine surveillance, vaccination and infection prevention, patient education, and long-term care planning.

Through the program, patients will have access to advanced diagnosis and monitoring; state-of-the-art treatment options, including medical therapies and surgical expertise; and nutrition, lifestyle, and integrative care options, such as registered dietitians, integrative therapies, and behavioral health support.

The Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program also partners with organizations such as the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation to provide patients with additional education, support groups, and community resources.

“Our goal is to offer high-level, individualized IBD care that you can get close to home,” said Dr. Herman.
