Community Education and Corporate Wellness Programs

The Valley Hospital Stroke Center places a high priority on educating the public about stroke, with a goal toward preventing strokes or lessening their severity by teaching people what to do if stroke symptoms appear. We share our medical knowledge through lectures, screenings, health fairs, and other community outreach programs offered by physicians, nurses, certified health educators, and other stroke specialists.

Community Health Education: 201-291-6141

Our programs include:

  • Free Speakers Bureau, with a "Signs and Symptoms of Stroke" talk or related topics -- including heart disease, hypertension, or nutrition -- brought to your organization’s next meeting. Call 201-291-6264 or request a speaker online.

  • Free stroke prevention talks at Valley’s Kraft Center in Paramus and at The Valley Hospital conference center, see Valley Magazine or visit our online calendar for a listing of programs and how to register.

  • Free stroke screenings offered each fall and spring, featuring a carotid bruit screening, finger stick cholesterol, rhythm strip test for heart rhythms, blood pressure check, and review of results with a registered nurse. Appointments must be made in advance. See Valley Magazine for upcoming dates.

  • Health fairs at our hospital or in the community. Stations can include individual heart risk assessment, stroke risks, blood pressure checks, or other topics of your choice.

Corporate Wellness Programs: 201-291-6390

Organized through Valley Medical Group’s Workplace Connection program, our Corporate Wellness Program can bring health talks, screenings, or classes to your place of business for a "Lunch and Learn" program, health fair, series of seminars, or other daytime event.

We will customize our talks to your audience’s specific health needs, including stroke prevention, the types of strokes, stroke symptoms, treatment and diagnosis, and related medical risks. We must have a minimum of 10 participants for a class.

For more information, call our Corporate Health account executive at Valley Medical Group at 201-291-6390.
