For the thirdconsecutive time, and for as many times as the score has been given, The Valley Hospital has received a grade of A for patient safety in a report released by The Leapfrog Group. The Hospital Safety Score uses 26 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to produce a single score representing a hospital’s overall performance in keeping patients safe from infections, injuries, and medical and medication errors. For the tenth consecutive year, The Valley Hospital has been recognized for service excellence under the J.D. Power and Associates Distinguished Hospital Program. This distinction acknowledges a strong commitment by The Valley Hospital to provide "An Outstanding Inpatient Experience." Valley was the first in the tri-state area to receive this distinction.

Valley's Cardiac Surgery program has once again been recognized with a three-star rating - the highest designation of quality and clinical excellence - by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. The 3 Stars were achieved in both isolated bypass and Aortic Valve Replacement categories. Only 12-15% of programs nationwide achieve this distinction in isolated bypass surgery, only 6% for AVR surgery, and only 2.4% received the three-star rating in both categories. Valley's Cardiac Program has now received this recognition in both 2012 and 2013.
Valley has earned an impressive 11 Disease-Specific Certifications from The Joint Commission. Valley holds these distinctions, also known as Gold Seals of Approval, in the following clinical areas: acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, total hip replacement, total knee replacement, stroke, breast cancer, lung cancer, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer, and uterine-ovarian cancer.
Valley is the only hospital in the nation to receive six Gold Seals of Approval from The Joint Commission for cancer care (lung, breast, colon/rectal, uterine-ovarian, pancreatic, and prostate cancers).
Valley's Intensive Care, Intermediate Care, Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care, and Coronary Care units each received the Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.
Valley is a two-time recipient of the prestigious Magnet Designation for Nursing Excellence from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
For the eighth year in a row, Valley has been designated as one of the Best Places to Work in New Jersey by NJBIZ.
Valley's was the only cancer program in northern New Jersey to be honored with the American College of Surgeon's prestigious Commission on Cancer Outstanding Achievement Award for 2009.
Valley's Oncology Clinical Trials Department was named one of the top three performing institutions in the country for thoracic clinical trials by the American College of Surgeon's Oncology Group.
Valley's Breast Center has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology, one of only two hospital-based breast imaging centers in Bergen County to receive the designation.
Valley's Breast Center has been granted a full three-year accreditation designation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons.
Valley Health System has been named a Gold Level Fit-Friendly organization by the American Heart Association.
