'A' Grade For Hospital Safety Score by LeapfrogFor the eighth time, The Valley Hospital has received an 'A' grade in the Spring 2016 Hospital Safety Score. Valley was one of 798 hospitals to receive an A, ranking among the safest hospitals in the United States.

Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Orthopedic Surgery 2016For the third consecutive year, The Valley Hospital has been recognized by Healthgrades as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Orthopedic Surgery its 2016 Report to the Nation.

Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Orthopedic Surgery 2016  For the second consecutive year, The Valley Hospital has achieved the Healthgrades 2016 Patient Safety Excellence Award™. This designation places Valley among Healthgrades top 5 percent of hospitals in the nation for excellent performance. Valley is the only hospital in Bergen County to receive this designation.

Only 93 out of the 3,558 hospitals evaluated for both patient safety and experience excellence had the superior performance to be recipients of both achievements, placing Valley among the top 2 percent of all hospitals in the nation for excellent performance in safeguarding patients during their hospital stays, as well as providing a positive experience for patients during their hospital stays. coc2015The Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons has once again awarded a Three-Year Accreditation with Commendation Gold Level to the Cancer Program at The Valley Hospital.  Accreditation by the Commission on Cancer is only given to facilities that voluntarily commit to providing the highest level of quality of cancer care through a patient-centered, multidisciplinary approach. 

 

coc2015The Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons has awarded The Valley Hospital’s cancer program with the prestigious 2015 Outstanding Achievement Award. Established in 2004, the CoC Outstanding Achievement Award acknowledges cancer programs that achieve excellence in providing quality care to cancer patients and demonstrate a commendation level of compliance with seven standards during their accreditation survey cycle. Valley was the only hospital in northern New Jersey and one of only two in the state to receive this recognition in 2015.  

 

Three Star Rating from Society of Thoracic Surgeons

The Society of Thoracic Surgeons has once again recognized The Valley Heart and Vascular Institute’s cardiac surgery program with a three-star rating – its highest designation of quality and clinical excellence.   Valley’s current STS designation of three-star ratings in all three categories (coronary artery bypass surgery, aortic valve replacement surgery, and performing a combination of the two procedures), is an extremely rare distinction that puts Valley in the top 1.2 percent of hospitals nationwide.

Joint Commission Top Performer 2014 logoThe Valley Hospital has been named a 2014 Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America,  for exemplary clinical performance in the following areas: heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, stroke, and perinatal care.  This is the third consecutive year that Valley has been recognized as a Top Performer in the areas of heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, and surgical care.

CEO Cancer

Valley Health System has been awarded the CEO Cancer Gold Standard by the CEO Roundtable on Cancer.  This distinction recognizes healthcare organizations whose work to fight cancer among its employees  is exemplary in five areas: use of tobacco; nutrition; physical activity; prevention, screening and early detection; and access to quality treatment and clinical trials.

10 Gold Seals of Approval from The Joint Commission

Valley has earned an impressive 13 Disease-Specific Certifications from The Joint Commission.  Valley holds these distinctions, also known as Gold Seals of Approval, in the following clinical areas: perinatal care, acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, total hip replacement, total knee replacement, stroke, breast cancer, lung cancer, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer, and uterine-ovarian cancer, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. No hospital in the nation has more Gold Seals of Approval in cancer care than Valley.

The Valley Hospital has received the 2016 Women's Choice Award® as one of America's Best Hospitals for Bariatric Surgery, recognizing Valley’s commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and treatment to women who undergo bariatric surgery procedures.  Valley is among more than 300 hospitals that have met the highest standards set by The American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses

Valley’s Coronary Care, Cardiac Surgery, and Intermediate Care units received the Gold-Level Beacon Award, the Beacon Award’s highest distinction, and the Intensive Care Unit received the Silver-Level Beacon Award, the second highest distinction, in 2016. This is the fourth time that Valley’s critical care units have received this prestigious three-year designation. Valley has more critical care units with Gold-Level Beacons than any hospital in the state of New Jersey.

Magnet Designation for Nursing Excellence from the American Nurses Credentialing Center

Valley is a three-time recipient of the prestigious Magnet Designation for Nursing Excellence from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

American College of Surgeon's Oncology Group

Valley's Oncology Clinical Trials Department was named one of the top three performing institutions in the country for thoracic clinical trials by the American College of Surgeon's Oncology Group.

mostwired2015For the 15th consecutive year The Valley Hospital has been recognized as one of the nation’s Most Wired Hospitals, according to the 17th annual HealthCare’s Most Wired™ Survey, released by the American Hospital Association’s Health Forum and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME). The Most Wired distinction recognizes hospitals for successful health IT planning and implementation. The survey examined how organizations are leveraging IT to improve performance for value-based healthcare in the areas of infrastructure, business and administrative management, quality and safety, and clinical integration.

Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology

Valley's Breast Center has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology, one of only two hospital-based breast imaging centers in Bergen County to receive the designation.

Valley's Breast Center has been granted a full three-year accreditation designation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons.

Blue Distinction Center+

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey has recognized The Valley Hospital as one of the first hospitals in the nation to receive a Blue Distinction Center+SM  designation in the area of cardiac care, as part of the Blue Distinction Centers for Specialty Care® program.  Blue Distinction Centers are hospitals shown to deliver quality specialty care based on objective, transparent measures for patient safety and health outcomes that were developed with input from the medical community.

Becker’s Hospital Review has named The Valley Hospital to its 2014 edition of "100 Hospitals and Health Systems with Great Oncology Programs.” According to Becker’s, organizations on the 2014 list are leading the way in quality patient care, cancer outcomes and research.

The Valley Hospital was recently awarded gold-level recognition from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for the hospital’s efforts in promoting organ donation. The hospital was recognized as part of the national Workplace Partnership for Life Hospital Campaign, sponsored by HHS’s Health Resources and Services Administration.

Valley Medical Group is pleased to announce that its primary care practices have been recognized as Patient-Centered Medical Homes by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). The VMG practices achieved level-3 recognition, the highest level of recognition conferred by the NCQA.
