June 11, 2013 -- Valley Medical Group Montvale welcomes board-certified dermatologist Tamar Zapolanski, M.D., to the practice, thus expanding the range of specialty care services available to patients through Valley Health System.
Valley Medical Group (VMG) comprises physicians practicing in a wide variety of specialties at several Valley Health System locations. VMG brings together Valley-employed physicians based at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, the Robert and Audrey Luckow Pavilion in Paramus and other outpatient facilities, seven primary and urgent care centers, and medical practices throughout the community.
Dr. Zapolanski received her medical degree from the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. While a medical student, she was a member of the Department of Community Service, the Diversity in Medicine Planning Committee, and the Dermatology Interest Group; co-president of the Hispanic American Medical Students Association; and co-founder of Medical Students in Action, an organization which travels to treat underserved patients in the Dominican Republic.
Dr. Zapolanski completed her internship in internal medicine at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital and her dermatology residency at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. In her final year at Cornell, she was elected to serve as chief resident, and she received the Distinguished House Staff Award for all-around excellence prior to her graduation. Prior to joining VMG, she was in private practice in Manhattan.
“I look forward to growing the Valley Medical Group dermatology practice and to building lasting relationships with my patients and with the Valley family and community,” says Dr. Zapolanski. “Successfully managing skin disease and creating an effective skin maintenance plan requires truly connecting with your patients.”
Dr. Zapolanski focuses on general medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. She diagnoses and treats patients of all ages, including children and teens, with varied skin conditions, including acne, rosacea, eczema, rashes, infections, allergic reactions, and skin cancer. She is also skilled in performing office-based laser and cosmetic procedures, including chemical peels, injectables, laser hair removal, and laser skin resurfacing. She speaks fluent Spanish.
Later in 2013, Dr. Zapolanski will be joining other VMG physicians at a brand new multi-specialty office located at 70 Park Avenue in Park Ridge.
