Auxiliary Completes $1.5 Million Pledge to The Valley Hospital and Announces a New $1.5 Million Pledge

The Auxiliary presents the last payment of their $1.5 million pledge to the Valley Hospital’s Breast Surgery Program at the Luckow Pavilion and to Valley Home Care’s Butterflies endowment.  Each year, Auxiliary members deliver gifts to hospitalized patients at The Valley Hospital through the Auxiliary Cares program.  This year, deliveries were made on December 8, 9, and 10. Ridgewood Branch Holds Holiday Soiree

The Valley Hospital Auxiliary Completes a Great Year

Local Students Win $25,000 in Auxiliary Scholarships

For more than 70 years, the Valley Hospital Auxiliary has been serving as a community liaison for The Valley Hospital. In addition to providing financial support and volunteer service to the hospital, the Auxiliary has been awarding scholarships to accomplished high school graduates and college students who plan to pursue health-related careers. This year, 23 students received $25,000 in scholarships—11 from local high schools and 12 from students who re-applied for scholarships while in college. Members of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Committee were Valley Hospital Auxiliary President, Elaine Heimberger, Vice President of Community Relations, Jill Rousseau, Marge Dabakian, Phyllis Quinn, Jena Glicini, Anne Russo, Isabel Reddy, Magda Karpati, Maria Digiovine, and Scholarship Committee Chair, Gabrielle Winnert.

The annual Valley Hospital Auxiliary Golf Outing attracted 141 players on a rainy day. Golfers also supported the Auxiliary by purchasing 50/50 raffles, Mulligans, Pink Balls, and participating in a silent auction and cork raffle.

On November 14, 2014, the annual Valley Ball was held at the Rockleigh Country Club, Rockleigh, NJ. Evening of Elegant Shopping at Hartgers Jewelers

The Auxiliary’s Evening of Elegant Shopping held on November 20, 2014 at Hartgers Jewelers in Wyckoff, NJ, raised approximately $16,000 for the Auxiliary through raffle purchases and a $2,000 donation from Hartgers for sales during the event.  The Hartgers family generously donated three fabulous raffle prizes.  25th Annual Tree of Light Ceremony & Reception

Held on December 7, 2014 in the main lobby of The Valley Hospital, the Auxiliary’s 25th annual Tree of Light ceremony attracted nearly 200 people.  The evening included members of the Ridgewood High School Carolers, Voices & String Ensemble who performed holiday music. To date, around $14,000 has been raised; 555 lights, 77 stars and 111 pool lights were sold.

 Community Relations

 Auxiliary Cares Delivers Good Cheer to Patients
 
On December 2,3, and 4, 2014, volunteers from the Allendale, Fair Lawn, and Franklin Lakes branches delivered gifts on behalf of Auxiliary Cares to patients and children hospitalized during the holiday season. Adults received cell phone/eyeglass cases, children received coloring books, crayons, and boo boo packs, and mothers of newborns received tiny spoons.  Auxiliary Cares has become an annual tradition –Auxiliary members love to participate and patients love the thoughtful gifts.

Decorating Kurth Cottage Café for the Holidays

Kurth Café is a unique restaurant staffed by The Valley Hospital Auxiliary and Valley Dining. Come find a moment's respite in our Café with its scrumptious, homemade food and warm hospitality. The Café offers a varied menu and take-out orders are welcomed.

Hola! Membership Fiesta

On September 29, the Valley Hospital Auxiliary and the Valley Hospital
Foundation hosted a "Membership Fiesta" at Blue Moon Mexican Café in
Wyckoff.  Ann Marie Leichman, RN, vice president Patient Care Services and
Chief Nursing Officer, The Valley Hospital, was guest of honor.  Entrance
fee was to bring one potential new member.  The response was great -- we
were filled to capacity and plans are underway to hold a similar event in
spring 2015.
