There are so many things to consider once you discover you have a little one on the way.

Our goal is to make sure that you have the information, education, and support you need to create your own personalized birth plan that outlines the decisions you have made regarding the birth process. We want you to feel comfortable and prepared to bring your little one home. To help you get started, we offer our Smart Start program. It's a great way to get a Smart Start on family education!

A Smart Start: 3 for Me and 3 for FREE!
Sign up for 3 or more classes at one time and receive access 3 classes FREE. They include 1 Pilates (any type), 1 yoga (any type) and 1  baby swim class. Your classes must be purchased at the same time to get the 3 free classes.

Baby & Me Yoga
This yoga class for mothers and their babies, approximately 6 weeks to 1 year of age, is both challenging and relaxing. It helps women regain strength, as well as adapt and grow in their new role as mother, while bonding with baby.   








Baby Bootie & Wrap Up
Learn the art of baby wearing and cloth diapering. Slings, wraps, infant carriers provide an optimum environment for attachment between parent and child and is easier than you think. It’s convenient, economical and makes for a happy and healthy baby! The cloth diaper isn’t what it used to be. With so many choices, figure out which is best for you in this fun and hands-on workshop.

Baby ER
A Valley pediatrician will teach you what to do in case of an emergency (first aid, sickness, allergies, and more). This one-session class does not include CPR.

Babysitters’ Class
This one-session class provides girls and boys, ages 10-16 with the information they need to safely care for a child. Topics include changing diapers, feeding, holding a baby, infant safety issues, and how to contact emergency personnel. CPR is not included in this class.

Breastfeeding Basics
Mother's milk is considered the perfect food for a newborn. It gives the newborn a healthy start. This class explores the benefits of breastfeeding and discusses nutrition, comfortable positions, common problems, returning to work, collection and storage of breast milk, and correct use of pumping equipment. Dads/significant others are encouraged to attend. This class should be taken during the seventh to eighth month of pregnancy. A special website is available to those who take this class.

Childbirth Preparation (Lamaze) [5-week series]
This class will provide you with the information you need to make healthcare decisions that fit your needs and birth preferences based on Lamaze techniques. Please enroll by your 30th week of pregnancy. This class is offered in a five-week series or two-day Saturday intensified series. A special interactive website is available to those who take this class. For all of the Childbirth Preparation classes, please bring two pillows and a blanket to class.

Please note that the class that begins on Wednesday, November 19th is actually a 4-week series, with November 26th being skipped.

Please note that the class that begins on Thursday, February 26th is actually a 4-week series.

Please note that the class that begins on Monday, March 16th is actually a 4-week series, with March 23rd being skipped.

This class will provide you with the information you need to make healthcare decisions that fit your needs and birth preferences based on Lamaze techniques. Please enroll by your 30th week of pregnancy. This class is offered in a five-week series or two-day Saturday intensified series. A special interactive website is available to those who take this class. For all of the Childbirth Preparation classes, please bring two pillows and a blanket to class. For the Saturday class, please also bring a bagged lunch.

Childbirth Refresher [One-Day Class]
This one-day intensive class serves as a refresher for seasoned parents. This version of Childbirth Preparation is for moms with health challenges or schedule conflicts. This class explores a wide range of techniques for creating a safe and satisfying birth experience. Please bring two pillows, a blanket, and a bagged lunch.   
$200 per couple

Grandparents’ Class
This course provides information about the most current childbirth practices, child development and childcare, and fosters a better understanding between parents and grandparents. Topics include newborn care, infant feeding, ways to soothe a crying baby, infant safety, childproofing a home, toys for various ages, and other concerns for new grandparents. This class should be taken at the end of pregnancy or early after the birth.   
$25 per person

Happiest Baby on the Block
Learn how Dr. Harvey Karp's world-renowned parenting approch may help prevent breastfeeding failure, postpartum depression, exhaustion, marital stress, and even shaken baby syndrome. It also helps fathers become more involved with their baby’s care and helps them feel more competent and secure. All attendees will receive a "Happiest Baby" video at this one-session class.   
$55 per couple

Infant & Child Safety
An instructor will cover the following topics: potential hazards to infants and children, a safe environment for your child, car seat safety, poison prevention, childproofing a home, and furniture/toy safety. Childcare providers are welcome. This one-session class does not include CPR.

Marvelous Multiples
This class is designed to assist expectant parents of multiples to: practice healthy pregnant lifestyles through sound nutrition, exercise, rest and stress management techniques, learn about the physical and emotional challenges of multiple pregnancy and identify the accompanying signs and symptoms, be prepared for the variances in labor, delivery and recovery of multiples through knowledge and confidence in the birth process, gain practical skills and problem-solving information about life at home with multiples, participate in a network with other parents of multiples for mutual support, and anticipate their new family with feelings of preparedness and joy. The class includes all the basic information from Lamaze Childbirth Preparation.   
$200 per couple

Newborn Care Class
This one-session class details all the basics of newborn care for expectant parents. A Valley pediatricial will present topics, followed by an instructor presenting bathing, bath products, diapering, cord care, temperature taking, dressing, sleep patterns, and pediatrician interventions are some of the topics covered. Class should be taken before the child's birth. A special interactive website is available to those who take this class. Adoptive parents are welcome.   
$50 per couple

Pets & Babies
Expecting a baby? Don’t forget about your four-legged first baby, your cat or dog. There WILL be adjustments to make. This class will teach expectant parents tried and true methods to a happy home for all family members. A little preparation and training can ensure a smooth transition for your pet and baby. The number one reason an animal is sent to the pound is because it has not been properly trained for the new baby. Pets & Babies offers pet owners the answers to their crucial concerns. A professional dog trainer and handler will instruct the class, along with the assistance of a pet therapy dog. Learn leash etiquette, how to bring the baby into the home for the first time, how to sleep with your pet, how to say no to your pet, and where to feed your pet.

Postnatal Pilates
Learn alternate Pilates-based exercises and the proper modifications that safely challenge the ever-changing body during pregnancy. Watch to avoid specific body movements that tend to aggregate a diastas recti while pregnant, as well as ease aches and pains with specific stretches and breathing techniques. Pilates provides the body with the deep conditioning needed for the rigors of labor and a smooth delivery. Through Pilates-based exercises and stretches, you will tap into the power of your own breath and strength, which helps to align the baby into optimal positioning for birth, as well as realign the body for successful birthing. A safe Pilates practice can help soften and open the body and mind to facilitate the natural birth process.

Prenatal Yoga
Yoga helps a woman prepare physically, mentally and emotionally for giving birth and becoming a mother. Moms-to-be are led through a wide range of poses adapted for the ever-changing pregnant body, helping to alleviate some of the associated discomforts while preparing for birth.   








Sibling Class
The birth of a baby is an exciting event for the whole family. Big brothers and big sisters will enjoy this one-session class designed specifically for them. Class activities are age specific and encourage positive feelings about the older sibling's place in the family and the new baby. Children 3 to 7 years are encouraged to attend the Sibling Class. Class should be taken about four weeks before baby's due date.   
$40 per family

Toddler Yoga
Practice yoga with your toddler in this amusing and active class exploring the environment around you, making animal shapes and funny sounds. Lay the foundation for a healthy lifestyle and have fun together!   








What is Cord Blood Banking? (Presented by ViaCord)
This one-session class will discuss the topic of cord blood banking which is the collection and storage of the stem cells found in your newborn’s umbilical cord. There is only one chance to collect your child’s cord blood, find out if it is right for your family.

Yoga/Pilates Classes

You may mix and match among the following classes. Classes are ongoing with the exception of holidays.

Prenatal Yoga: Through yoga, a woman can prepare physically, mentally and emotionally for giving birth and becoming a mother. Moms-to-be are led through a wide range of poses adapted to the ever-changing pregnant body, preparing her for labor and motherhood, as well as helping to alleviate some of the discomforts of pregnancy. Yoga helps a woman tap into her inner wisdom which is her best guide through pregnancy, birth and motherhood. Classes are held at Destination Maternity (35 Rt.4W, Paramus, NJ) on Tuesdays 10:30-11:30am and 7:30-8:30pm, Thursdays 10:30-11:30am and Saturdays 10:30-11:30 am.

Baby & Me Yoga: This is a yoga class for mothers and their babies, ages 6 weeks to 1 year, which is both challenging and relaxing. It addresses postpartum conditions such as back strain, weak abdominal wall and pelvic floor, tight shoulders, sleeplessness and stress. It helps women regain strength, as well as adapt and grow in their new role as mother. It is an opportunity to nourish that profound bond with baby. A sense of community in this class allows moms to discuss any concerns or share information and ideas on parenting in a nurturing environment. A certified yoga instructor facilitates this class. You must bring your baby to class. Classes are held at Destination Maternity (35 Rt.4W, Paramus, NJ) on Mondays 12:00-1:00pm.

Toddler Yoga: Using yoga poses, this amusing and active class encourages your toddler’s explorations of the environment around them, all while having you by their side. Lay the foundation for a healthy lifestyle and have fun together. You must bring your baby to class. Classes are held at Destination Maternity (35 Rt.4W, Paramus, NJ) on Mondays 10:00-11:00am.

Prenatal Pilates: Stay fit through your pregnancy and safely prepare your “core” for your baby’s birth. Learn to breathe with your movements which will assist you during labor. Strengthen the deepest abdominal muscles and pelvis floor to support your growing baby, help with labor and delivery, and prevent diastasis. Proper stretching techniques will be taught to help counter the bodily changes taking place during pregnancy. Prenatal Pilates is designed to promote good posture and spinal alignment while focusing on stability and balance. Proper modifications to accommodate all stages of pregnancy and fitness levels will be followed. Classes are held at Destination Maternity (35 Rt.4W, Paramus, NJ) on Wednesdays 7:30-8:30pm.

Postnatal Pilates with or without your baby: Reclaim your pre-pregnancy posture and rebuild your stamina. We will use a variety of props – resistance bands, foam rollers, magic circles, balls – to assist you with reconnecting your movements and give you a challenging workout. This class is appropriate for moms six weeks to several years after childbirth. Exercises are modified to meet individual needs and fitness levels. Non-mobile babies are welcome. Classes are held at Destination Maternity (35 Rt. 4W, Paramus, NJ) on Fridays from 10:30-11:30am.
