Pictured here, left to right, are: Robin Iversen, M.D.; Robert Silverman, M.D., Medical Director; and Fani Thomson, D.O.

Physicians at the Valley Institute for Pain believe that one person in pain is too many, especially if that person is you.

The Institute's board-certified physicians, advanced practice nurses, registered nurses, and radiologic technologists will diagnose the origin of your pain and attack it with today's most modern and effective treatments.

Conditions treated include acute pain as a result of injury or illness, back problems, arthritis, cancer, post-surgical pain, spinal stenosis, shingles, and muscular conditions. Many patients wish to supplement their treatment with complementary medicine services, such as acupuncture, that can be provided right at the Institute.

Robert Silverman, M.D., the Institute's Medical Director, is board certified in anesthesiology and pain management. His colleagues are Robin Iversen, M.D., who is board certified in internal medicine and certified in drug and alcohol detoxification; and Fani Thomson, D.O., who is board certified in physical medicine. In addition, Dr. Iversen is a licensed acupuncturist. To make an appointment with one of these doctors, please call 201-634-5555.

Dr. Silverman and his colleagues perform pain management procedures for inpatients and outpatients. They also perform some procedures at their office located at the Robert & Audrey Luckow Pavilion in Paramus.

What types of patients are candidates for pain management? From an inpatient perspective, candidates include individuals undergoing orthopedic surgery, cardiac procedures, oncology treatments, a hysterectomy and other procedures. Outpatients receiving pain-management services include those experiencing degenerative changes from osteoporosis or chronic arthritis, individuals recovering from back surgery and individuals who have been injured in a motor vehicle accident or other form of trauma.

For more information, please call the Valley Institute for Pain at 201-634-5555.
