Get to Know Me
What are some of the specific conditions you treat?
I focus on treating the whole person in regards to pulmonary and sleep issues. Some examples of these conditions include but are not limited to obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia, asthma, chronic obstructive lung disease, and chronic bronchitis.
What techniques or procedures do you use in your practice?
In our office, we utilize spirometry, Simple Stress Tests, NIOX and pulse oximeters to evaluate our pulmonary patients. In addition, we have Influenza and Pneumonia vaccines. I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral therapy for our insomnia patients.
Describe some of your professional highlights.
As an Advanced Practice Nurse, I have presented at national conferences for pain management, and recently I have presented at the Cardiovascular Conference on Sleep Apnea. In addition, I mentor and precept nurse practitioners while teaching nursing students. In effect, by teaching and presenting at conferences, I am able to treat my patients with the highest standards of care.
What would you like patients to know about your approach to care?
I feel that treating the whole person and family is extremely important. It is important to engage the patient in open communication regarding their health. My goal is to help the patient make informed decisions about their care with open communication. Ultimately, I try to promote awareness and growth of the patient.
What inspired you to become a doctor?
Growing up in a family of nurses, I always knew that I wanted to be a nurse and care for people. Working as an ICU nurse, I realized there were times that I could do more for my patients. This was when I decided to become an Advanced Practice Nurse so that I could provide and manage the care of my patients. Thus, it is my honor to interact with patients while assessing, diagnosing and treating the whole person.
