Valley Home Care Nurse, One of Five National Recipients of the Tangent Medical 2013 Nurses’ Choice Awards

June 10, 2013 -- Valley Home Care is pleased to announce that Kyung Lee, RN, IV Clinician for Valley Home Care, was one of the five recipients of the Tangent Medical 2013 Nurses’ Choice Awards, presented by Tangent Medical in honor of National Nurses Week. Valley Home Care is part of Valley Health System, which also includes The Valley Hospital and Valley Medical Group.

The Tangent Medical award recognizes five clinicians from around the country who display outstanding ability and dedication in improving patient comfort, satisfaction, safety, and overall quality of care.  Nurses had to be nominated by at least one nursing professional from an organization or practice in the U.S. or Canada to be considered for the award.  All five national winners received a Tangent Medical 2013 Nurses’ Choice Awards plaque and $300 in educational gifts.

Ms. Lee was chosen among 27 national finalists to receive the award.  Nominees specialized in a variety of areas, including infusion therapy, surgery, oncology, pediatrics, orthopedics, and critical care.Tangent Medical honored her on their website as part of National Nurses Week.

“Valley Home Care is very proud of Ms. Lee,” said Karen Grant, RN, MS, CHHQ, the Director of Quality Improvement Staff and Education at Valley Home Care.  “She has had a huge impact in the lives of her patients over the years through her calm, caring and expert approach to meeting their individual needs for infusions at home.  Her patients come first and she has often adjusted her own plans to be there for them when needed. In addition to her ceaseless devotion to her patients, she is very knowledgeable about evolving procedures and technology and works hard to develop protocols and policies to ensure quality improvement.  Her teaching skills have been strongly valued by staff members who need to be trained in using the latest technology.”  Ms. Lee started the infusion program at Valley Home Care and Hospice and is highly regarded by infusion companies and physicians for her knowledge and expertise.
