See Your Ophthalmology Providers From Home
While our office is currently open for urgent or emergency care only, we are providing telemedicine consultations for established and new patients. If you are interested in scheduling a telemedicine visit, please call our office at 201-612-0044 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have a sudden loss of vision, trauma, chemical injury or other injury, call 911 or go to the emergency room.
The following information can help you prepare for your telemedicine visit:
Medicare and many insurers are covering telemedicine visits due to the coronavirus pandemic. Depending on your insurance, a telemedicine visit may include a co-pay, co-insurance, deductible or be considered a non-covered service.
Please test your device (smartphone, tablet or computer) before your appointment. Video call a family member or friend to test your audio and video. You will use your device in “selfie” mode.
Good lighting (natural light, room lighting, a flashlight or penlight) is helpful for us to examine your eyes over the phone to the extent possible. It may be helpful to have a family member hold a light source during your visit.
Video Conference Platform
We prefer to use the Microsoft Teams platform for our telemedicine visits. Microsoft Teams is free and can be downloaded to any smartphone, tablet or computer. Our office will provide you with details on using Teams.
Doximity can also be used and does not require you to download anything. In this case, you will receive a text stating that our office is trying to reach you, and a link to join the call.
If neither of these are an option, we can use other platforms including Facetime, Google Hangouts, WhatsApp and Zoom.
Checking visual acuity and online measurements prior to your visit can be very helpful to your ophthalmologist. Click here for more information.
Our office will provide you with an appointment time.
