Get to Know Me
What are some of the specific conditions you treat?
I treat children (birth to 18 years) with medical conditions that pose an immediate risk to his or her life or risk for permanent disability. In addition, I provide pre-op and post-op support to pediatric surgeons from all specialties. When a pediatric patient has a complex, multi system medical condition, I coordinate the care with the assistance of pediatric sub specialists.
What would you like patients to know about your approach to care?
Excellent medical care is not enough. I strive to provide patients and their parents/guardians and extended families with my full attention and listening, as well as timely and truthful communication, compassion and empathy.
What inspired you to become a doctor?
As a former asthmatic child, I experienced first-hand the fear and helplessness that comes with objective clinical findings of asthma. These experiences made me feel a desire to acquire the knowledge and skills that would allow me to provide effective care, symptom relief and compassion to others. I always felt that being a physician and sub-specializing in critical care would provide me an opportunity to have an important and beneficial impact on many lives.
