Get to Know Me
What are some of the specific conditions you treat?
I treat all Gynecologic malignancies including ovarian, fallopian tube, cervical, uterine, vaginal, and vulvar cancers as well as patients with a pelvic mass or those in need of complex gynecologic surgery.
What techniques or procedures do you use in your practice?
Gynecologic oncology surgical procedures are accomplished via open laparotomy, laparoscopically, or robotic-assisted laparoscopy. I utilize a minimally invasive surgical approach whenever appropriate, with the goal of always obtaining the best outcome for the patient while reducing risk and harm. I also perform complex vaginal and vulvar surgery when necessary. I work closely with the Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology departments to provide the most comprehensive care to gynecologic oncology patients.
What would you like patients to know about your approach to care?
Cancer is a physical diagnosis that also affects the social, psychological, and emotional well-being of the patient and their loved ones. It is important to use a multidisciplinary approach to address each of these aspects and provide patients with the best care and quality of life possible. I believe communication and compassion are paramount when caring for patients. I aim to educate patients the best I can about their diagnosis so they can make informed decisions and we can develop the best treatment plan together. I believe in listening to what is important to patients and addressing their individual questions and concerns. It is a privilege to be involved in a patient's care at such a vulnerable time and I try to treat each patient as if they were my own family member.
