About Morenike Jegede
What techniques or procedures do you use in your practice?
I provide preconception and family planning counseling that can range from natural family planning to offering birth control options such as oral contraceptives, the Nuva ring, the patch, insertion/removal of IUDs, insertion/removal of Nexplanon, and administration of the depo povera shot.
Describe some of your professional highlights.
In 2010, I earned my BS in Biochemistry from Suny Binghamton University. After graduation, I developed a strong desire to become a midwife. This led me to work hard to complete my prerequisites for midwifery school at Medgar Evers College. Soon after, I was accepted into the Suny Downstate Masters of Midwifery program in 2012 and graduated in 2016. Since then, I have worked diligently to provide quality care for women and their families. During my Midwifery career, I also obtained an MS in Health Service Administration.
What would you like patients to know about your approach to care?
The word "mid-wife" derives from Old English, which translates into “With-Woman." Thus, midwives are with women as they navigate through the various stages of reproductive health, and we aide them through those transitions. Such as preconception planning, birth control counseling, gynecological services, menopausal, and prenatal care, just to name a few.
