Get to Know Me

What are some of the specific conditions you treat?

I treat all conditions encountered in the practice of hospital-based general internal medicine.

Describe some of your professional highlights.

I have been practicing Hospital Medicine for 22 years across urban and rural settings, with extensive experience directing healthcare delivery practices. I am also the founding Medical Director of a successful hospitalist program and current Chair of the Hospitalist Services at The Valley Hospital.

What would you like patients to know about your approach to care?

My primary focus is on providing high-quality and safe patient care at all times. I attach a lot of importance to proactive communication with patients and their families in a compassionate and empathetic manner, and with their other healthcare providers so that care coordination is achieved at all times. I fully believe in and practice patient-centered care and make it a point to always include patients and families in discussions and health care decision-making.

What inspired you to become a doctor?

A strong desire to apply my aptitude for the physical and biological sciences to ease human suffering. Practicing medicine and being a doctor has been a rewarding and humbling experience. Being a doctor has made it possible for me to interact with patients (which in my opinion is the best aspect of my profession), help them to the maximum extent possible, learn from them as they share their life stories, experiences, and medical problems, and appreciate their resilience, patience, and trust in my knowledge of medicine, clinical skills, and good intentions.
