Bio

What are some of the specific conditions you treat?

Some of the specific conditions I treat include heart failure, valvular heart disease, coronary artery disease, hypertension, lipid disorders, palpitations (rhythm abnormalities), chest pain, and shortness of breath and dizziness evaluation.

What techniques or procedures do you use in your practice?

Some of the techniques and procedures that I use in my practice include EKGs, holter monitors for extended or short-term monitoring, exercise stress testing, stress echocardiography, echocardiography, referrals to the lab for bloodwork, referrals to electrophysiology (in our office), referrals for cardiac catheterization, interventional, and structural heart procedures and referrals for cardiac surgery.

Describe some of your professional highlights.

Some of my professional highlights include extending my education and professional capabilities by taking a sabbatical and undergoing a year of training in invasive and interventional cardiology at Darmouth-Mary Hitchcock Medical Center. Also, having treated thousands of patients and enabling them to live longer and more productive lives is a professional highlight of mine. What would you like patients to know about your approach to care? At this point in my career, I have more time to spend with patients to more precisely understand their problems, their cardiac risks, and the risks and benefits of the currently available treatment modalities. Furthermore, I attend conferences on a regular basis and participate in the American Board of Internal Medicine's maintenance of certification program (MOC) in cardiology to stay current with a subspecialty that is always evolving.

What inspired you to become a doctor?

I think the best part of being a doctor is being constantly challenged with new and exciting improvements in care that we can offer patients. As such I am never bored. Being a doctor requires the ability to communicate with all types of patients and explain things to them in terms that they can easily understand.
