What are some of the specific conditions you treat?

Asthma, COPD, lung cancer, sarcoidosis, interstitial lung diseases, pleural diseases, pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary, hypertension, sleep disordered breathing, sleep apnea, narcolepsy.
Management of critically ill patients including sepsis, shock, post cardiac surgery, neurointensive care, perioperative.
Management of left ventricular assist devices, right ventricular assist devices, post cardiac, liver, kidney transplant.

What techniques or procedures do you use in your practice?

ECMO, bronchoscopy with biopsy, endobronchial ultrasound, electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopy, auto
fluorescence bronchoscopy, placement of fiducials, percutaneous tracheostomy.
Targeted brachytherapy in lung cancer, staging of tumors, airway stents, transbronchial needle aspiration, cryotherapy, laser, ultrasound guided placement of chest tubes & indwelling chest catheters (pleurix and aspira), pleural manometry, insertion of Swan Ganz, pacemakers, pericardiocentesis, arterial lines, central venous catheters.

What inspired you to become a doctor?

A desire to make a difference in the lives of patients. Doctoring patients rather than just being a doctor. My inspiration is maintained by the 5 F's which rule my life:
