Personal Belongings

Please arrange to take all of the patient’s belongings home with you, except for personal hygiene items. All valuables should be left at home.

Flowers

Plants and flowers are not permitted in Critical Care Units due to infection control concerns.

For Parents of Pediatric ICU (PICU) Patients

We recognize the special bond a child may have with a “lovey” or blanket, so you may bring in items that will comfort your child. Parents are welcome to stay with their child at any time of the day or night. Your child’s private room can accommodate one parent or guardian on a pull-out sleeper chair. Please check with your child’s nurse as to whether visitors other than the parents are allowed. If you are sick or may be contagious to a patient, please consult with PICU staff before entering the hospital.

Bereavement Services

Please refer to the brochures located in the Critical Care Waiting Room, or ask your nurse, social worker or Spiritual Care representative.
