Pulmonary Hypertension

A New Non-Invasive Approach for Accessing Pulmonary Arterial Stiffness in Patients with Pulmonary Hypertension

Evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of VTF with invasive pulmonary artery impedance as a reference standard in a clinical cohort undergoing right heart catheterization for evaluation of pulmonary hypertension. Secondarily, evaluate the ability of the VTF to detect elevated PVR and determine the relationship between the VTF and the following clinical outcomes: the 6-minute walk test and 36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36). Compare the VTF with pulsatility, pulse wave velocity, and other invasive measures of PA stiffness including distensibility and stiffness index.

Adults 19 years or older who are not critically ill scheduled for clinically indicated right heart catheterization at VMC and are willing to undergo MRI; women of childbearing potential with negative urine pregnancy test.
