Laura Loumeau-May, M.P.S., A.T.R.-B.C., L.P.C., Art Therapist, VHC Social Services, leads Valley Home Care’s Pediatric Art Therapy Program Journeys, which specifically works with children and adolescents ages 3-17 who are affected by the serious illness or death of a loved one.
An art therapist since 1995, Laura was spotlighted as a “Featured Member” in the American Art Therapy Association’s (AATA) Art Therapy Today news blog in 2018. In addition to her role at Valley, she has served AATA as a board member (2011-2015), Membership Committee Co-Chair and the New Jersey Art Therapy Association Diversity Chair.
She teaches at Ramapo College and taught in the graduate art therapy program at Caldwell University for 14 years, originating several of the core courses, including Cultural Diversity in Art Therapy and Counseling, Spirituality in Art Therapy, Group Art Therapy, and Art Therapy Assessment.
She has authored three published book chapters about art therapy for bereaved children. In 2002, Laura’s work with children of 9/11 victims through the Journeys Program was featured on ABC-TV’s "Prime Time Thursday."
