  1. U.S. News & World Report: The Valley Hospital has been recognized as one of the best hospitals in the region, ranking as the fifth best hospital in New Jersey and the 12th best hospital in the New York metropolitan area for 2017-2018, according to U.S. News & World Report. In addition, Valley achieved the highest possible rating – high performing – for seven adult procedures and conditions: aortic valve surgery, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), colon cancer surgery, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, knee replacement and lung cancer surgery.
  2. Leapfrog: For the 13th time, The Valley Hospital has received an "A" grade in patient safety for Fall 2018 from Leapfrog. Valley was one of 855 hospitals - or the top third - to receive an "A", ranking among the safest hospitals in the United States.
  3. Healthgrades: 
    • Valley has been recognized as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for General Surgery and received the General Surgery Excellence Award for 2019, placing Valley in the top 5 percent in the nation for General Surgery.
    • Valley has received the 2019 Critical Care Excellence Award.
    • The Valley Hospital has achieved the Healthgrades 2018 Patient Safety Excellence Award™, and is the only hospital in Bergen County to receive this designation for four consecutive years (2015-2018). This designation places Valley among Healthgrades top 10 percent of all short-term acute care hospitals in the nation for excellent performance.
    • Healthgrades: The Valley Hospital has received the 2018 Pulmonary Care Excellence Award from Healthgrades, ranking Valley in the top 10 percent for pulmonary care.
     
  4. NJBIZ: Valley Health System and The Valley Hospital were ranked as the number one health system and hospital, respectively, in New Jersey in a recent NJBIZ Reader Rankings survey. Valley Medical Group was also ranked the number one physician group in the state.   5.  Women’s Choice Award: The Valley Hospital has earned the 2018 Women’s Choice Award as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Experience for a sixth consecutive year.   6.  The Joint Commission: Valley has earned an impressive 8 Disease-Specific Certifications from The Joint Commission. In addition to the Disease-Specific Certifications listed in their respective clinical sections below, Valley holds Disease-Specific Certifications in the areas of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Wound Care.
  7. Magnet Designation - American Nurses Credentialing Center: Valley has achieved the Magnet recognition - the highest national honor for professional nursing practice - from the American Nurses Credentialing Center for a fourth consecutive time. 
  8. Human Rights Campaign: Valley has been designated as a “2018 LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Leader” by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the educational arm of the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) civil rights organization.

    • Valley is a Five-Star Recipient for Heart Failure and Pacemaker Procedures for 2019.
    • The Valley Hospital was recognized by Healthgrades as one of America's 50 Best Hospitals for Vascular Surgery in 2017. This designation placed Valley among Healthgrades top 10 percent in the nation for vascular surgery. Valley has received the Vascular Surgery Excellence Award for two years in a row (2016-2017).
    • Five-Star Recipient for Coronary Bypass Surgery for 2017.

  2. Women’s Choice Award: The Valley Hospital has earned the 2017 Women’s Choice Award as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Heart Care for the fourth consecutive year. Valley, which became affiliated with Cleveland Clinic Heart & Vascular Institute in 2015, qualified for this evidence-based designation by being ranked in the top 9 percent of nearly 4,800 U.S. hospitals.
  3. American Heart Association: The Valley Hospital has received the 2018 Get With The Guidelines®–Resuscitation Gold Quality Achievement Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association for the treatment of patients who suffer in-hospital cardiac arrests.
  4. The Joint Commission: Valley holds a Disease-Specific Certification from The Joint Commission in the areas of acute myocardial infarction and heart failure.
  5. Intersocietal Accreditation Commission: 
    • The Valley Heart and Vascular Institute’s Cardiac Electrophysiology Lab has been granted accreditation by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) in Cardiac Electrophysiology in the areas of electrophysiology testing and catheter ablation and device implantation. Valley is one of only nine facilities nationwide — and the only one in New Jersey — to receive this recognition.
    • The Valley Hospital’s Echocardiography Lab has been granted an additional three-year term of accreditation by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) in Echocardiography in the areas of Adult Transthoracic and Adult Stress.
     
  6. American Association for Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation: Valley's Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programs are certified by the American Association for Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

  1. CEO Roundtable on Cancer: Valley Health System has earned CEO Cancer Gold Standard™ accreditation for a sixth consecutive year for maintaining a strong commitment to the health of its employees through healthy workplace initiatives and access to quality cancer prevention and treatment services, and Valley’s It’s Your Move health screening and wellness program has been selected as a Gold Standard Best Practice for a third consecutive year.
  2. Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons: The CoC has once again awarded a Three-Year Accreditation with Commendation Gold Level to the Cancer Program at The Valley Hospital, as well as the Outstanding Achievement Award. Accreditation by the Commission on Cancer is only given to facilities that voluntarily commit to providing the highest level of quality of cancer care through a patient-centered, multidisciplinary approach. 
  3.  Becker’s Hospital Review: For a second consecutive year, Becker's Hospital Review has named The Valley Hospital to its 2017 edition of "100 Hospitals and Health Systems with Great Oncology Programs." According to Becker's, organizations on the 2017 list have a reputation for innovation and expertise in treating cancer patients.
  4. Women’s Choice Awards: The Valley Hospital has been named a 2018 Women’s Choice Award® recipient as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Cancer Care (fifth year in a row), acknowledging Valley’s dedication to providing exceptional patient care and treatment for women and their families. This evidence-based designation is the only award that identifies the country’s best healthcare institutions based on criteria that consider female patient satisfaction, clinical excellence and what women say they want from a hospital.
  5. American Society for Radiation Oncology's (ASTRO) Accreditation Program: In 2016, The Valley Hospital received a full, four-year accreditation from the American Society for Radiation Oncology's (ASTRO) Accreditation Program. Upon receiving accreditation, Valley was the only hospital in New Jersey and 1 of only 7 in the country to receive this accreditation.

  2. Women's Choice Award: For a third consecutive year, Valley has been named one of America's 100 Best Hospitals for Bariatric Surgery by the Women's Choice Award for 2018.
  3. Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP®):  The Valley Hospital’s weight-loss (bariatric) surgery program has received Full Accreditation as a Comprehensive Center under the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP®), a joint program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). To earn the three-year accreditation, Valley had to meet specific standards outlined by the MBSAQIP, including providing bariatric surgical patients with a multidisciplinary program to improve patient outcomes and long-term success.

National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers: As of 2017, Valley's Breast Center has been granted a full three-year accreditation designation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons. First earning NAPBC approval in 2011, this is the third full NAPBC accreditation for Valley’s comprehensive Breast Center, a critical component of the Valley-Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Care Program.
  4. American College of Radiology: Valley's Breast Center has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology, one of only two hospital-based breast imaging centers in Bergen County to receive the designation.

  1. Beacon Award: Five of Valley's critical care units have received the Beacon Award, a three-year designation. In 2017, Valley's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit received a Beacon Award; Valley is the only hospital in New Jersey to have received this recognition. In 2016, Valley’s Coronary Care, Cardiac Surgery, Intermediate Care and Intensive Care Units received the Beacon Award. This is the fourth time that Valley’s critical care units have received this prestigious three-year designation.
  2. American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC): 
    • Valley has been recognized with the 2017 Apex Recognition Award from the AARC for demonstrating best practices in respiratory care. Valley is one of only five hospitals in the country – and the only one in New Jersey – to receive this award.
    •  In 2016, The Valley Hospital earned Quality Respiratory Care Recognition (QRCR) for the fourteenth year in a row from the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC). Valley is one of about 700 hospitals or approximately 15 percent of hospitals nationwide that have applied for and received this award.                                                             
     
  3. Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs: Valley Health System has been awarded accreditation by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP), making Valley the first and only healthcare organization in New Jersey to receive this distinction. As the “gold seal” for human subject protection, this AAHRPP accreditation places Valley Health System among the most respected research organizations in the world, and helps cultivate further public confidence in human research conducted at Valley.
  4. American Diabetes Association: 
    • Valley Health System has received the Corporate Health Champion Designation from the American Diabetes Association. This designation recognizes companies and organizations that inspire and encourage organizational well-being and is part of the Association’s Wellness Lives Here initiative.
    • Valley Home Care's Diabetes Self-Management Education Program has been recognized by the American Diabetes Association for Quality Diabetes Self-Management Education* and Support. Valley's program has received this recognition consecutively since 2001.
     
  5. Most Wired: For the 18th consecutive year, The Valley Hospital has been recognized with the CHIME Most Wired designation, according to CHIME HealthCare’s Most Wired™ 2018 Survey. The Most Wired distinction recognizes hospitals and healthcare systems for successful health IT planning and implementation and how they apply it strategically to achieve the best outcomes.
  6. Risk & Insurance magazine: Valley Health System has earned the 2017 Theodore Roosevelt Workers’ Compensation and Disability Management Award for their efforts to promote a safe work environment. Valley was one of only four national winners, which included Delta Air Lines, Massachusetts Port Authority and Rochester Regional Health. 
  7. College of American Pathologists: In 2018, The Valley Hospital Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine earned reaccreditation for meeting the highest standards in care from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
  8. The Outsourcing Institute: The Valley Hospital has been named a 2017 Best Outsourcing Thought Leadership Awards (BOTL) winner by The Outsourcing Institute for its work with MEDITECH in collaboratively developing and deploying electronic surveillance software to identify and prevent hospital-acquired conditions (HACs). 
  9. Forum for Shared Governance: The Valley Hospital has been awarded Accreditation in Shared Governance from the internationally recognized Forum for Shared Governance.
  10. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA): For a second consecutive year, The Valley Hospital was recently awarded platinum-level recognition for promoting enrollment in state organ donor registries in a national Workplace Partnership for Life hospital campaign, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). 
  11. Greenhealth
    • Valley has received the Greenhealth Emerald Award, which recognizes healthcare facilities that are setting the standard in eliminating mercury, reducing and recycling waste, sustainable sourcing, and other areas.
