U.S. News & World Report:
The Valley Hospital has been recognized as one of the best hospitals in the region, ranking as the fifth best hospital in New Jersey and the 12th best hospital in the New York metropolitan area for 2017-2018, according to U.S. News & World Report. In addition, Valley achieved the highest possible rating – high performing – for seven adult procedures and conditions: aortic valve surgery, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), colon cancer surgery, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, knee replacement and lung cancer surgery.
NJBIZ: Valley Health System and The Valley Hospital were ranked as the number one health system and hospital, respectively, in New Jersey in a recent NJBIZ Reader Rankings survey. Valley Medical Group was also ranked the number one physician group in the state. Valley also ranked as number one in the following categories: Best Cardiac Care System, Best Cardiac Care Hospital and Best Research Center.
For the 12th time, The Valley Hospital has received an "A" grade in patient safety for Spring 2018 from Leapfrog. Valley was one of 750 hospitals to receive an "A", ranking it among the safest hospitals in the United States.

Magnet Designation - American Nurses Credentialing Center:
Valley has achieved the Magnet recognition - the highest national honor for professional nursing practice - from the American Nurses Credentialing Center for a fourth consecutive time.
Human Rights Campaign: Valley has been designated as a “2018 LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Leader” by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the educational arm of the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) civil rights organization.
For the second consecutive year, The Valley Hospital has been recognized by Healthgrades as one of America's 50 Best Hospitals for Vascular Surgery. This designation places Valley among Healthgrades top 10 percent in the nation for vascular surgery.

American Heart Association:The Valley Hospital has received the 2018 Get With The Guidelines®–Resuscitation Gold Quality Achievement Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association for the treatment of patients who suffer in-hospital cardiac arrests.
The Joint Commission:Valley holds a Disease-Specific Certification from The Joint Commission in the areas of acute myocardial infarction and heart failure.
Intersocietal Accreditation Commission:
The Valley Heart and Vascular Institute’s Cardiac Electrophysiology Lab has been granted accreditationby the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) in Cardiac Electrophysiology in the areas of electrophysiology testing and catheter ablation and device implantation. Valley is one of only nine facilities nationwide — and the only one in New Jersey — to receive this recognition.
The Valley Hospital’s Echocardiography Lab has been granted an additional three-year term of accreditation by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) in Echocardiography in the areas of Adult Transthoracic and Adult Stress.
American Association for Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation: Valley's Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programs are certified by the American Association for Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
For a second consecutive year, The Valley Hospital has received the Healthgrades 2018 America's 100 Best Hospitals for Stroke Care Award™, placing Valley in the top 5 percent in the nation for stroke care. Valley has also received the Stroke Care Excellence Award and is a five-star recipient for treatment of stroke.

Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons:The CoC has once again awarded a Three-Year Accreditation with Commendation Gold Level to the Cancer Program at The Valley Hospital, as well as the Outstanding Achievement Award. Accreditation by the Commission on Cancer is only given to facilities that voluntarily commit to providing the highest level of quality of cancer care through a patient-centered, multidisciplinary approach.

American Society for Radiation Oncology's (ASTRO) Accreditation Program: In 2016, The Valley Hospital received a full, four-year accreditation from the American Society for Radiation Oncology's (ASTRO) Accreditation Program. Upon receiving accreditation, Valley was the only hospital in New Jersey and 1 of only 7 in the country to receive this accreditation.

National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers:As of 2017, Valley's Breast Center has been granted a full three-year accreditation designation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons. First earning NAPBC approval in 2011, this is the third full NAPBC accreditation for Valley’s comprehensive Breast Center, a critical component of the Valley-Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Care Program.
American College of Radiology:Valley's Breast Center has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology, one of only two hospital-based breast imaging centers in Bergen County to receive the designation.
The Joint Commission:Valley holds a Disease-Specific Certification from The Joint Commission in the area of perinatal care.
Other Hospital Distinctions and Accreditations
Beacon Award:Five of Valley's critical care units have received the Beacon Award, a three-year designation. In 2017, Valley's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit received a Beacon Award; Valley is the only hospital in New Jersey to have received this recognition. In 2016, Valley’s Coronary Care, Cardiac Surgery, Intermediate Care and Intensive Care Units received the Beacon Award. This is the fourth time that Valley’s critical care units have received this prestigious three-year designation.
American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC):
Valley has been recognized with the2017 Apex Recognition Awardfrom the AARC for demonstrating best practices in respiratory care.Valley is one of only five hospitals in the country – and the only one in New Jersey – to receive this award.
In 2016, The Valley Hospital earned Quality Respiratory Care Recognition (QRCR) for the fourteenth year in a row from the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC). Valley is one of about 700 hospitals or approximately 15 percent of hospitals nationwide that have applied for and received this award.
Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP®):The Valley Hospital’s weight-loss (bariatric) surgery program has received Full Accreditation as a Comprehensive Center under the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP®), a joint program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). To earn the three-year accreditation, Valley had to meet specific standards outlined by the MBSAQIP, including providing bariatric surgical patients with a multidisciplinary program to improve patient outcomes and long-term success.
Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs:Valley Health System has been awarded accreditation by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP), making Valley the first and only healthcare organization in New Jersey to receive this distinction. As the “gold seal” for human subject protection, this AAHRPP accreditation places Valley Health System among the most respected research organizations in the world, and helps cultivate further public confidence in human research conducted at Valley.
Healthgrades: The Valley Hospital has received the 2018 Pulmonary Care Excellence Award from Healthgrades, ranking Valley in the top 10 percent for pulmonary care.
Women's Choice Award: For a third consecutive year, Valley has been named one of America's 100 Best Hospitals for Bariatric Surgery by the Women's Choice Award for 2018.
American Diabetes Association:
Valley Health System has received the Corporate Health Champion Designation from the American Diabetes Association. This designation recognizes companies and organizations that inspire and encourage organizational well-being and is part of the Association’s Wellness Lives Here initiative.
Valley Home Care's Diabetes Self-Management Education Program has been recognized by the American Diabetes Association for Quality Diabetes Self-Management Education* and Support. Valley's program has received this recognition consecutively since 2001.
Most Wired: For the 17th consecutive year, The Valley Hospital has been recognized as one of the nation’s Most Wired Hospitals, according to the 19th annual HealthCare’s Most Wired™ Survey, released by the American Hospital Association’s Health Forum and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME). The Most Wired distinction recognizes hospitals for successful health IT planning and implementation in the areas of infrastructure, business and administrative management, quality and safety, and clinical integration.
Risk & Insurance magazine: Valley Health System has earned the 2017 Theodore Roosevelt Workers’ Compensation and Disability Management Award for their efforts to promote a safe work environment. Valley
was one of only four national winners, which included Delta Air Lines,
Massachusetts Port Authority and Rochester Regional Health.
College of American Pathologists: In 2018, The Valley Hospital Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine earned reaccreditation for meeting the highest standards in care from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
The Outsourcing Institute: The Valley Hospital has been named a 2017 Best Outsourcing Thought Leadership Awards (BOTL) winner by The Outsourcing Institute for its work with MEDITECH in collaboratively developing and deploying electronic surveillance software to identify and prevent hospital-acquired conditions (HACs).
