Ann Marie Leichman Promoted to Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services at Valley

 
  

May 15, 2017 -- The Valley Hospital is delighted to announce that Ann Marie Leichman, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services in addition to her current role as Chief Nursing Officer. The promotion took effect on May 1.

Ann Marie joined Valley 17 years ago as a Care Center Administrator, and has made numerous contributions to the hospital’s success that include developing several Centers of Excellence and driving improvements in the fields of quality and patient safety.  Ann Marie has also played an integral role in the implementation, growth and development of many major initiatives, including the Patient- and Family-Centered Care model of care.

Anne Marie is responsible for the leadership of all nursing and patient care services at Valley.  This includes providing guidance and leadership in the development and implementation of patient care, and establishing the standards for patient care, nursing practice and nursing performance at the hospital.

Under Ann Marie’s leadership, Valley has earned the prestigious Magnet redesignation in 2013 and now boasts more holistic board-certified nurses on staff than any other hospital in the country. Ann Marie has championed the holistic nursing program at Valley, completing the Integrative Healing Arts Certificate Program in 2004.

Ann Marie is an American Hospital Association Patient Safety Leadership Fellow and is the President-Elect for the Organization of Nurse Leaders of New Jersey (ONL NJ). She is also on the Board of Directors for the New Jersey Council of Magnet Operations and is a member of the American Nurses Association and American Holistic Nursing Association. Most recently, Ann Marie was recognized with the Nurse Executive Award by the Organization of Nurse Executives of New Jersey (ONE NJ).

Ann Marie received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Lehman College, Bronx, New York, and a Master of Science Degree in Nursing from Hunter College, New York, New York.

Ann Marie’s professional career began as a staff nurse at The New York Hospital, where she was promoted to Clinical Nurse Supervisor. She then moved to High Point Hospital in Rye Brook, NY, as the Director of Nursing, where she spent the next 5 years. Ann Marie joined St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital in New York and was the Director of Nursing during her 12-year tenure. Ann Marie joined the Valley staff in 2000.
