Physicians and nurses are invited to attend “The Genesis of Innovation in Cardiac Surgery and Cardiology: Opening a New Era in Cardiovascular Medicine”, presented by The Valley Hospital’s Heart and Vascular Institute. The symposium will be held at The Valley Hospital Auditorium, located at 223 N. Van Dien Avenue, Ridgewood, on Saturday, September 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The keynote speaker for this symposium will be Pedro J. del Nido, M.D., William E. Ladd Professor and Chairman of the Department of Cardiac Surgery for Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Dr. del Nido’s presentation will be titled: “The medical pull vs. the technology push in medical innovation.”
Other speakers will include Carlos Ruiz, M.D., Ph.D., from North Shore Health System; James Cox, M.D., of Washington University School of Medicine; Manuel A. Villafana, of Kips Bay Medical, Inc.; Suneet Mittal, M.D., from The Valley Hospital; Roxana Mehran, M.D. of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai; Robert Gorman, M.D. of University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and Juan Granada from The Cardiovascular Research Foundation.
Course directors and moderators are Giovanni Ferrari, Ph.D., from University of Pennsylvania, and Juan B. Grau, M.D., of The Valley Hospital.
