Patients who benefit from rehabilitation therapy include those who have experienced stroke and various types of surgery.
The Valley Hospice team includes physicians, nurses, clergy, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, doulas, holistic specialists, home health aides, and volunteers. They provide a wide range of adult and pediatric services to meet the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of terminally ill patients and their families. A complete line of individual and group bereavement services is also available. Through the Butterflies and Journeys programs, specially designed hospice and bereavement services are available for children.
Volunteers play valuable and meaningful roles in the lives of patients and families. Volunteers work with the elderly, high-risk pregnant women, the terminally ill and special-needs infants and children. Accessing Our Services
Valley Home Care is affiliated with The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, meaning any patient at Valley has the opportunity to utilize our services. However, patients from any hospital in any region may request services from our agency. Valley Home Care is also part of Valley Health System.
A physician, family member, social worker or nurse can initiate services by calling 201-291-6000. It is important to remember that you do not have to be hospitalized in order to receive home care. Many patients receive home care as an alternative to hospitalization. Likewise, many outpatient procedures that used to be performed in a hospital setting, such as electrocardiograms, are now performed in the home by VHC’s skilled nurse clinicians. Speak with your physician about how home care can improve the quality of your life.
Reimbursement for Services
In many cases, licensed home health care is less expensive than hospital or nursing home care. The cost of services may be reimbursed by a third party such as Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross or a private insurance company. If services are not covered by third-party reimbursement, fees for some services may be adjusted based on a sliding payment scale.
The Valley Home Care staff is highly regarded for its technical skill, compassionate nature and ability to accommodate the many diverse needs of patients. The staff regularly receives heartwarming letters of thanks from patients and families who were touched by their gentle, caring nature. Our nurses are routinely graded 90 or better by patients who complete our satisfaction questionnaire.
