Hospital Care Payment Assistance Program
The Valley Hospital makes inpatient and outpatient medical services available to eligible NJ residents who are in low-income situations with limited assets through the NJ Hospital Care Payment Assistance Program (referred to as "charity care assistance"). To obtain a charity care application, please click here.
Patients whose insurance coverage only pays for part of the hospital bill or outpatient services and who are otherwise eligible may also apply for NJ Hospital Care payment Assistance. For instance, Medicare Part A and/or B beneficiaries who have no secondary insurance may be eligible for charity care to pay for all or some of their deductibles and/or co-payments. Outpatients must apply through the Community Care Department in Hawthorne by calling 973-427-7676. Patients admitted to the hospital with no insurance will be mailed an application from Patient Financial Services or an application may be requested by calling 201-291-6080.
Outpatient prescriptions are not covered under charity care. For information about prescription drug assistance, click here.
Certain undocumented aliens may be eligible for a special Medicaid program called Medical Emergency Payment Program for Aliens to help pay for emergency services and/or inpatient care.
