General Program Information

 

Tuition and Refund Policy

  • The tuition for the radiography program for Fall 2014 incoming is $42,126 total - $10,531.00 per term.
  • Tuition payments are payable to Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU).
  • Grants and financial aid are available to our students through FDU.
  • FDU's refund policy is pro-rated. Students are encouraged to refer to the FDU Undergraduate Studies Bulletin.

Student Transfer Policy

Due to the varying sequences of courses in other radiography programs, The Valley Hospital School of Radiography does not accept radiography transfer credits. Other college credits will be evaluated by our affiliate, FDU's transfer credit analysis department.

Requirements for Clinical Hours:

Students participate in clinical activities during the fall, winter, spring and summer semesters. Below is the clinical hours designated per semester:

Terminal Objectives

Upon completion of the program, the student radiographer will:

  • Position the patient for all diagnostic radiographic examinations in a competent and timely manner.
  • Determine the exposure factors to produce a diagnostic quality radiographic image and manipulate and compensate accordingly.
  • Practice standardized radiation protection methods to reduce exposure to the patient and self.
  • Manipulate the imaging equipment in a safe and competent manner.
  • Exercise sound professional judgment and discretion as a competent health care professional.
  • Collaborate effectively with patients, health care professionals and member of the community of interest.
  • Utilize appropriate verbal, non-verbal, and written forms of communication.
  • Provide quality patient care in a competent and ethical manner.

Terminal Award Options

The program offers prospective students the following terminal award options:

  • Certificate only from The Valley Hospital School of Radiography; however, this option requires that students entering the program must have an associate's degree of higher.
  • Certificate from The Valley Hospital School of Radiography and an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree from FDU. This option requires students to complete all Liberal Arts and Science courses in addition to the core radiography certificate courses.

Requirements for Program Completion

1. Candidates for graduation must pass the following with a C+ (77-79%) or higher:

  • all didactic and clinical radiography courses
  • all required clinical competency evaluations and related objectives
  • the Exit Examination - 80% or higher (second year)

2. Upon completion of the certificate program, the graduate will be eligible to:

  • receive a certificate from The Valley Hospital
  • apply for admission to the ARRT certification examination
  • upon receipt of the ARRT certification card, graduates may apply for an NJ State license

Requirements for Radiography Certificate Completion
