The length of your stay will depend on your individual situation. Most patients stay approximately one to two hours after surgery is completed. You will be discharged when you have met discharge criteria. The person taking you home must be available when you are discharged.
You may experience some discomfort from your procedure. It is not uncommon to feel weak and drowsy. Please be assured we will work with your surgeon(s) to keep you as comfortable as possible.
Leaving the Center
If you receive any post-operative prescriptions from your surgeon, you may fill them at our pharmacy located on the first floor.
You should have someone with you at home for at least 24 hours after your procedure.
Before you leave the Center, you will be given written instructions for home care. Be sure to follow these instructions regarding diet, rest, medication and activity.
Do not sign any important papers or make any significant decisions for 24 hours.
Do not drive a car, smoke, drink alcoholic beverages, operate machinery or cook for 24 hours after surgery.
A staff member will call you 24 to 72 hours following your surgery to see how you are feeling and to answer any questions. If you have any questions before or after you receive this call, please call the Center at 201-634-5350. If there is an emergency, dial 9-1-1 or go to the nearest emergency room and notify your surgeon.
