Enhance Your Life by Eating Well
Scientific studies demonstrate that good nutrition can help to reduce one's risk of developing heart disease, diabetes, or cancer. Your physician may recommend The Valley Hospital’s “A Recipe for Life” nutrition guidance program as part of the treatment for your medical condition. By following a prescribed nutrition plan, you may be able to reduce or eliminate costly medication. Individualized meal plans are tailored to fit your lifestyle.
Our services include nutrition counseling for the following:
- Weight loss
- High cholesterol
- Gastrointestinal disorders
- Cancer therapy
- Vegetarian nutrition
- Food allergies
- Infant/child nutrition
The nutrition counseling offices are located at the Luckow Pavilion, One Valley Health Plaza in Paramus (behind the Fashion Center).
Daytime, evening, and Saturday hours are available. Please call 201-634-5371 to schedule an appointment. Click here to download a blank food and activity log to fill out and bring to your appointment.
Many insurance companies, including Medicare, will cover the cost of nutrition counseling for the management of a medical problem. Please contact your health insurance carrier directly for information about your policy's coverage.
Our nutrition professionals will develop a program tailored specifically for you and your family. They will meet with you in the comfort of your home and will develop a customized eating plan, provide you with the skills and knowledge to meet your needs, and give you the individualized attention you need to help keep you motivated. We offer a wide range of services including menu planning, refrigerator makeovers, supermarket shopping, advice about what to order in restaurants, personal chef referrals, lunch box ideas, collaborative cooking instruction, recipes, and more.
The initial appointment is 90 minutes and follow-up appointments may be scheduled in 30-minute increments.
Supermarket Tours - Shop Smart and Shop Healthy!

Aisle-by-aisle shopping tips and easy-to-fix recipes will be provided. Both group tours (maximum 8 people) and individual tours are available.
Center for Youth Fitness
The Center for Youth Fitness (CFYF) offers a combined fitness and nutrition program for children ages 10 to 15. Valley's staff or registered dietitians will offer on-site nutrition consultations and educational programming for a well-rounded approach to wellness.
