First in the tri-state area and 16th in the U.S. to be designated a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission, the nation's leading organization for the accreditation of hospitals and health care organizations.
First in New Jersey to receive The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for stroke care (2004). Today, we continue to hold this distinction, also known as Disease Specific Certification.
Designated by the New Jersey Department of Health as a Comprehensive Stroke Center because of the ability to treat complex strokes and offer interventions such as the MERCI/Penumbra device that retrieves blood clots from the brain and hence, extends the treatment window for stroke up to 8 hours.
The Valley Hospital has received the Healthgrades 2017 Stroke Excellence Award™ for clinical quality and excellence, placing Valley in the top 10 percent of hospitals in the nation for stroke care. Valley's Stroke Care Program is also a 5-Star Recipient for Treatment of Stroke for 2017.
The Valley Hospital has earned the 2017 Women's Choice Award as one of America’s Best Stroke Centers. Valley qualified for this evidence-based designation by being ranked in the top 7 percent of nearly 4,800 U.S. hospitals.
The American Heart Association's "Get with the Guidelines-Stroke" Gold Plus Award for excellence in stroke care.

Stroke care often begins in the Emergency Department. Valley has received the J.D. Power and Associates Distinguished Hospital Award for Service Excellence for an "Outstanding Emergency Department Experience."
The J.D. Power and Associates Distinguished Hospital Award for Service Excellence for nine consecutive years. Valley was the first in the tri-state area to receive this award.
Magnet Designation for Nursing Excellence (three consecutive times) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
